Winter Skin Care for Babies — 4 Tips for Soft, Healthy Skin
Dr. Sandip Gupta
This video shares tips for taking care of children's skin in the winter season. Tip 1 — Moisturise twice a day. In winter children's skin becomes dry, so apply moisturiser properly on the child's skin at least twice. Tip 2 — Coconut oil massage after bathing. Massage the child with coconut oil after the bath. Massage makes the child's skin soft, and coconut oil has antimicrobial properties, so the chance of infection stays low. Tip 3 — Bathe three times a week in peak cold. When it is very cold in winter, bathe children three times a week and give them a sponge bath on the other days. Tip 4 — Bath water and duration. Bathe the child with lukewarm water and finish the bath in 5 to 10 minutes; do not keep the child soaking in water longer than that. Before bathing, put your own hand in the water and check whether the temperature is suitably lukewarm for the child. Relevant for: parents whose child gets dry skin in winter; parents asking how often to bathe a baby in cold weather and when to sponge bath instead; parents wanting to know the right bath water temperature and bath duration for babies; and parents asking about coconut oil massage and moisturiser for baby skin.
