Right Room Temperature for Babies — Why 24–27°C Matters and Never Below 20°C
Dr. Sandip Gupta
This video explains what the comfortable room temperature for babies is and why it matters. The comfortable range: 24 to 27 degrees centigrade is what we consider the comfortable temperature, which is called room temperature. Why it is especially important for small children: In adults, thermoregulation function is good, so if the outside environment's temperature changes, our body can maintain its internal temperature within a certain limit. This does not happen in children. In children, if the outside environment's temperature changes, the child can become cold or hot and get distressed, and can feel discomfort. What to keep in mind: Always keep the AC temperature between 24 and 27, and make sure the temperature never goes below 20 degrees, which becomes too much for the child. Relevant for: parents asking what AC temperature is safe for a baby; parents wanting to know the ideal room temperature for newborns and small children; parents worried that their baby gets too hot or too cold; parents asking why babies cannot handle temperature changes the way adults can; and parents wanting to know the minimum temperature limit for a child's room.
