Makhana Purée for 6–8 Month Babies — Food for Strong Bones and Easy Digestion

Dr. Sandip Gupta

This video answers what to feed 6 to 8 month old babies to make their bones strong — makhana purée. Why makhana: Makhana contains calcium, protein and magnesium, which make children's bones strong. It also contains fibre, so the child does not get constipation. How to make it: Roast the makhana lightly and grind it into a powder. While making the powder you can also add almonds or cashews — this gives the child good fat and protein. Then cook that powder in milk or water and give it to the child. For sweetness: You can add date (khajoor) purée. We do not give sugar to children under one year, so dates purée can be used for sweetness. Before starting nuts: Check the child for nuts allergy before starting nuts. Relevant for: parents starting solids for 6 to 8 month old babies; parents looking for calcium-rich foods for strong bones in infants; parents whose baby has constipation and who want fibre-rich foods; parents asking how to make makhana powder or purée for a baby; parents asking what to use for sweetness in food for babies under 1 year instead of sugar; and parents wanting to add almonds or cashews to a baby's food and check for nut allergy first.
