Homemade Bournvita / Horlicks for Kids — Healthy, Preservative-Free Weight Gain Recipe
Dr. Sandip Gupta
This video answers a common parent question: can we give Bournvita, Complan, Boost or Horlicks to children for weight gain? The doctor explains that these can be given to children above 2 years of age, but it is even better to make it at home — and then shares a complete homemade recipe. Homemade health drink powder recipe: 1 cup almonds (badam) 1 cup cashews (kaju) ½ cup walnuts (akhrot) ½ cup oats ½ cup pistachios (pista) ½ cup makhana Dry roast all of these. After dry roasting, put them in a mixer and grind into a powder. Once a very fine powder is made, sieve it once. To this fine powder, add ⅓ cup cocoa powder, ½ cup jaggery (gud) powder and ½ cup milk powder. Mix it well, store it in an airtight container, and give it to the child mixed with milk. Why it is better: it is very healthy, preservative-free, and also very beneficial for the child's weight gain. Relevant for: parents asking whether Bournvita, Complan, Boost or Horlicks are safe or good for children; parents of children above 2 years looking for a health drink; parents wanting a homemade, preservative-free alternative to market health drinks; parents looking for healthy weight gain foods and drinks for kids; and anyone wanting a recipe using almonds, cashews, walnuts, oats, pista, makhana, cocoa powder, jaggery and milk powder.
