Foods to Avoid When Your Child Has Constipation
Dr. Sandip Gupta
This video covers an important point for parents: which foods should be avoided when a child has constipation (kabz). Foods to avoid, as explained in the video: Outside food and processed food – these have a low fibre content and should be avoided completely. Things made of maida – such as pizza, burger and similar market items. These increase the child's constipation problem. Caffeinated food products – caffeine should be avoided. If a mother is breastfeeding and the child has a constipation problem, she should reduce her caffeine intake — this will help. Frozen food – frozen food should be avoided. Food colour – food colouring is also a concern and should be kept in mind. The overall advice: if the child has constipation, avoid these things in the diet. Relevant for: parents whose child has constipation, hard stools or difficulty passing motion; parents asking which foods worsen constipation in kids; parents wanting to know if pizza, burger, maida-based items, processed food, frozen food or food colours affect their child's digestion; and breastfeeding mothers wondering whether their own caffeine intake affects the baby's constipation.
