5 Winter Skin Care Products for Babies — Oil, Cream, Shampoo, Bar and Lip Care
Dr. Sandip Gupta
Which cream, shampoo and oil should you use to keep a child's skin healthy in winter? In this video the doctor talks about five winter care baby products and how often each is used. Products covered in the video: Coconut oil after bathing – a coconut oil that also contains Vitamin E. Even in the cold, coconut oil can be warmed slightly and used to massage the baby. Coconut oil is very healthy for a child's skin. Moisturising cream for the face – a moisturising cream is applied on the face, twice a day in winter, otherwise the child's skin becomes dry. Baby shampoo twice a week – a baby shampoo is used twice a week. It keeps the child's hair from becoming dry and prevents dandruff on the child's scalp. Bathing bar instead of soap – a bathing bar is used for bathing. Soap is not used for children because soap has an alkaline pH, which makes the child's skin dry. Body moisturiser three times a day – in winter moisturiser has to be used three times a day. Lip care – to keep the lips healthy and soft, a baby lip balm is used three to four times. Relevant for: parents looking for winter skin care products for babies; parents whose baby has dry skin, dry hair, scalp dandruff or dry, chapped lips in winter; parents asking whether soap or a bathing bar is better for a baby; parents asking how often to apply moisturiser and shampoo in winter; and parents asking whether coconut oil can be used for massage in cold weather.
