5 Exercises to Do During Your Baby's Massage — For Gas, Muscles and Milestones
Dr. Sandip Gupta
This video covers the exercises you should do while massaging your baby, and what each one helps with. Knee to chest – gently take the knee towards the chest. Cycling motion of the legs – move the baby's legs in a cycling motion. These two exercises reduce the baby's gas or colic pain and help with digestion. Rotating the hips side to side – this makes it easier for the baby to turn, i.e. to achieve the roll-over milestone. Moving the arms and legs diagonally – this helps in the baby's muscle development. Upper limb movements – open and close both of the baby's hands and move them up and down. This increases the flexibility of the baby's joints. Doing all these exercises during massage helps a lot in the baby's development and makes it easier to achieve milestones. Relevant for: parents doing daily baby massage and wanting to add exercises; parents whose baby has gas, colic pain or digestion trouble; parents wanting to help their baby with rolling over and other milestones; parents asking about exercises for muscle development and joint flexibility in infants; and parents looking for simple baby leg and arm movements to do at home.
