3 Easy Ways to Prevent Diaper Rash in Babies
Dr. Sandip Gupta
This video shares three easy ways to protect children from diaper rash. 1. Apply a barrier after every clean-up. Whenever the baby passes potty or urine repeatedly, after cleaning that area apply a zinc oxide diaper rash cream, or apply coconut oil. This maintains the skin's moisture so the skin does not get affected. 2. Give some diaper-free time. After the baby has passed potty or urine and you have cleaned them, leave the baby without a diaper for a while. Air reaching that area keeps the baby's skin healthy. 3. Use a cotton diaper. Use cotton diapers for the baby. Air circulation is maintained inside a cotton diaper, so rash does not develop there. For this you can use a langot or a cotton diaper that absorbs moisture while maintaining air circulation, which prevents rash from developing. Relevant for: parents whose baby has diaper rash, redness or irritation in the diaper area; parents asking what cream or oil to apply after cleaning; parents asking whether zinc oxide cream or coconut oil should be used; parents wondering whether diaper-free time helps; and parents choosing between disposable diapers, cotton diapers and langot.
